New Kindergarten Natural Playground!!!

We have a new natural playground coming this Spring! The new space will feature many new features, including: sand area, outdoor classroom, amphitheatre, and logs for climbing.

Camping

Our drama centre is currently a camp site, complete with a tent and campfire.  We love the way the kids created the campfire, their imaginations never cease to amaze us!  

Last Supper

Tomorrow our class will be participating in our own Last Supper.  We have been reading several Easter stories and discussing the importance of the Last Supper where Jesus breaks the bread and says "do this in memory of me".  We will be using pita bread and grape juice for our bread and wine.

Welcome Back

We hope you had a restful and fun March Break.  This week is Holy Week so we will be talking about Jesus' death and resurrection as we prepare for Easter.
Sunday is also the first day of spring so hopefully the warm weather is coming.

The Pat letter this week is U.   If your child usually presents on Friday, then have them bring something on Thursday as we won't be at school on Good Friday.

Inspired By Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock was an artist who painted pictures using a painting technique called action painting or drip painting.  Our class watched an animated video about Pollock and his technique and then with the help of Mrs. Liu, the students created their own drip paintings. It was a fun and educational experience that introduced the children to a new artist and a new painting technique.  It also helps the children to understand that art can be abstract, and not just scenes.  Each of the children then looked at their finished art and they gave it a title.  We were amazed at their creativity and how their art spoke to them. Check out our bulletin board the next time you are at the school.

Friday March 11th

On Friday March 11th our class will have wacky hat day (with the rest of the school) AND PAJAMA DAY!!!!  We thought it would be a fun way to end the week and start March Break.

Letter Review This week

This week your child can bring in anything for PAT time in order to review many different letters.

Dinosaurs Dinosaurs

Our inquiry continues....the children drew their favourite dinosaur and then they wrote about it.  We also had some dinosaur eggs that "hatched" in our class.  It took 48 hours for them to hatch so we had the children record their observations over the two days.  Here are some photos.
